This piece by Jeff Adams directly relates to Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. On the right side, Huck is navigating down the Mississippi on his handmade wooden raft, keeping his eye out for peculiar faces and things. Oddly, Jim is not incorporated into the sculpture, which i feel makes the work less meaningful, because while it is both Huck and Jim's journey to freedom, it is much more dangerous and significant for Jim as a runaway slave. On the left side of the sculpture, Huck is either sitting under the tree at the widow's house reading, or taking a well-deserved break after rafting under the hot sun. I really like this sculpture because it is detailed, uses different shades and textures, and has two main components of Huck and Jim's journey: work and play. To Next Page
